GULFSTREAM: Catching up

Four races into the card and lots to report. From the jockeys room, both Manny Cruz and Elvis "Trujillo have taken off their mounts for the rest of the day. It was also a memorable afternoon for apprentice John Delgado who posted his first career victory aboard Enginery for former NFL running back Moe Williams in the opener.

Speed and the rail won the first two races decided over the main track, which is on the fast side today noting Convoy Ahead's winning time of 1:09.97 for six furlongs in the second. The third race went to the favored Kaleidoscope Sky who circled off a hotly contested pace.

In another matter, Friday's third race was carded at a mile and one half on the main track. Which means the race has to start at the three furlong pole or MIDWAY ON THE TURN. It seems nobody in the racing office realized this fact when the race was written and drawn. The last word received this afternoon is that after consulting with the riders the race will still start MIDWAY ON THE TURN which seems a little dangerous and a lot unfair to those drawn in the outside posts.
