Fornatale: Three online contests set for Saturday

On Saturday, NHCQualify.com will be running the final online last-chance contest for the National Handicapping Championship. The NHC is the nation’s most prestigious handicapping contest, with more than $2 million in prizes on the line Jan. 23-25 at Treasure Island in Las Vegas.

Early registration for Saturday’s contest is strong, but entries are still available for $400 each. Up to eight NHC seats, plus travel allowances, will be awarded. Sign up now at https://www.nhcqualify.com/buy_advanced.aspx.

There are two additional contests Saturday. BCQualify.com offers its final Round 1 qualifier for January. The top 10 percent of finishers will advance to a Round 2 contest on Sunday. The top finishers in Round 2 will win their full $10,000 entries to the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge at Keeneland, the world’s premier live-bankroll handicapping/betting contest.

Entries in Saturday’s contest cost $110 and are limited to two per customer. You can purchase entries at https://www.bcqualify.com/buy_advanced.aspx.

Also on Saturday, DRFQualify.com will host an $80 buy-in contest in which players can win their way into the $100,000 Raise Your Game Handicapping Challenge, presented by Gulfstream Park and Daily Racing Form, to be held Feb. 28 at Gulfstream. To enter, go to https://www.drfqualify.com/buy_advanced.aspx.

Note that at the moment, there is a discrepancy between the printed post times in the free DRF contest PPs and the ones printed above. As always, it’s a good idea to double-check post times and make sure you have default picks in for every race so you don’t get shut out.

It’s a great mix of races from the four most important winter tracks, meaning it will be a very fair contest for players in all parts of the country. The sequence consists of a solid mix of stakes, allowance, and claiming races, highlighted by the Grade 3 Lecomte from Fair Grounds, two Sunshine Millions races at Gulfstream Park, and listed stakes from Oaklawn and Santa Anita. One interesting note: It was on this weekend last year that Bob Traynor qualified for the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge. Traynor went on to win more than $300,000 at the BCBC.
