Fornatale: Buy in for a little to make a lot

Email

On Sunday, contest players have an opportunity to win their way in to one of the best contests in the country, the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge, on BCQualify.com. Players can buy straight into the BCBC for $10,000 but on BCQualify.com you can win your full $10,000 buy-in, plus a $500 travel allowance, for $190. Up to five seats will be awarded out of Sunday’s contest, depending on participation. Last year, Bob Traynor won his way in to the BCBC on BCQualify and cashed out for over $300,000.

Also on Sunday, DRFQualify.com will be running a qualifier for the Sept. 19 Gulfstream Park Raise Your Game contest. The normal buy-in is $3,000 for the live-bankroll event, but you can win your buy-in for just $90. Up to four seats will be awarded, depending on the ultimate field size.

Here are the races that will make up both qualifying contests:

3:55    Aqueduct 6

4:00    Gulfstream 7

4:18    Tampa 8

4:26    Aqueduct 7

4:30    Gulfstream 8

4:51    Tampa 9

4:57    Aqueduct 8 (New York Stallion 100k stake)

5:28    Aqueduct 9

5:30    Santa Anita 5

5:59    Aqueduct 10

6:00    Santa Anita 6

6:30    Santa Anita 7 (G3 Wilshire)

It’s a four-track contest highlighted by the New York Stallion at Aqueduct and using the G3 Wilshire at Santa Anita as the anchor leg. There are two maiden races and a mix of claimers and optional claimers. A perfect balance of turf and dirt with six races scheduled on each surface. The overlap of races isn’t as notable as it is for Saturdays contests but it’s still a good idea to get default picks in for all races. As always, full past performances are available on the contest sites.
