Fornatale: Busy weekend with four online contests

After a one-week hiatus, contest action returns to the DRF family of tournament sites with four contests this weekend.

On Saturday, BCQualify.com is hosting a one-day contest giving players a chance to win their way into the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge. The BCBC is the world’s premier live-bankroll handicapping contest. The buy-in costs $10,000, with $2,500 feeding the prize pool and the other $7,500 acting as a live bankroll that can be bet into the win, place, show, exacta, or trifecta pools over the two days of the Breeders’ Cup.

Previous BCBC winners Bob Traynor and Patrick McGoey have qualified for a fraction of the buy-in through BCQualify.com and walked away with hundreds of thousands of dollars. BCQualify.com is the only place where you can win your way into the BCBC online.

The buy-in for Saturday’s qualifier is $190, and up to three BCBC spots will be awarded, with two guaranteed. Sign up now at https://www.bcqualify.com/buy_advanced.aspx.

On Sunday, NHCQualify.com, the official online qualifying site of the National Handicapping Championship, is hosting an event where the winner will win into both the NHC and the BCBC. The NHC is the richest and most prestigious handicapping tournament there is. For the 2016 event, a purse of $2.5 million is expected, and the winner will receive an Eclipse Award for Handicapper of the Year. You can’t just buy into the NHC; you must win your way in via another contest.

In Sunday’s qualifier, up to three NHC seats will be awarded, with two guaranteed. The overall winner also is guaranteed a BCBC seat. To sign up, go to https://www.nhcqualify.com/buy_advanced.aspx.

On Saturday and Sunday, DRFQualify.com will host qualifiers for the Sept. 19 Raise Your Game contest at Gulfstream Park, a live-bankroll tournament. Up to two $3,000 Gulfstream entries will be awarded out of each contest, depending on participation. The buy-in costs $80, and you can sign up now at https://www.drfqualify.com/buy_advanced.aspx.

It’s a tight race, and upcoming contests online, at Del Mar, and at the Wynn in Las Vegas are expected to have an impact. For the first half, each player’s best four scores are counted, at least one of which must come from an on-site event. To earn tour points, players must finish in the top 10 percent of tour events.
