Fornatale: $10k buy-in contest for Belmont Stakes Day


Daily Racing Form’s DRFQualify.com will be running a qualifier on Sunday for the first-ever Belmont Stakes Challenge, a $10,000 buy-in event hosted by NYRA on June 11, Belmont Stakes Day.

The total projected purse for for the contest is expected to be around $125,000. The Belmont Stakes Challenge is a big-money, live-bankroll contest that will offer cash, Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge seats, and National Handicapping Championship seats as part of its prize pool.

“We are thrilled to provide this highly lucrative and exclusive real-money tournament during our premier racing festival,” said Lynn LaRocca, NYRA Senior Vice President and Chief Experience Officer. “Offering the best tournaments and hospitality for horseplayers is a part of our continuous effort towards achieving top satisfaction from our guests and we believe the upcoming Belmont Stakes Challenge is our latest attempt in meeting that goal.”

It’s important to note that you don’t already have to be in the New York area on Belmont Day to play. Players in the contest will also receive a $500 travel voucher. Also on Sunday, up to four BCQualify.com players will win in to the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge. Entry fee is $190 and winners will also receive $500 in travel.

There is a third contest happening in the DRF universe on Sunday on DRFBets.com. It’s the Sunday Funday $3K contest, and cash will be on the line. The contest requires a $50 registration fee, then players must make 10 “live” $5 win wagers on any race at Aqueduct, Keeneland, or Tampa Bay. At the end of the day, the player with the highest bankroll gets $1,500, with $1,000 to second and $500 to third.
