Fair Grounds: Stakes, Seminars and Street Fare

Fair Grounds will close out its Quarter Horse meet this afternoon with four stakes races led by the $276,833 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Sale Futurity. The track will also be focusing on fan education Saturday.

Martha Claussen, a Q-Racing Ace with the American Quarter Horse Association, will be offering handicapping insights with Jim Mulvihill, the communications and pari-mutuel marketing manager for Fair Grounds, during the track's simulcast. Claussen will also be available to answer fan questions on Quarter Horse racing all afternoon, at an AQHA table located near the paddock.

There will also be a food-truck festival at the Fair Grounds on Saturday. It's called the Street Fare Derby.

The first stakes on the program goes as the fifth race, the $48,852 LQHBA Sale Invitational Stakes. It will be followed by the $30,000 Fair Grounds Bonus Challenge Stakes, which goes as the eighth race and which drew Grade 1 winner Acorn. The stakes action wraps up with the 10th and the 11th races, the respective $30,000 De Saix and the LQHBA Sale Futurity.
