Fair Grounds: Lanerie has double, going well as win no. 3,000 approaches

Corey Lanerie, who's just a handful of wins away from no. 3,000,  has been making the most of live horses the last several days. Going into the nightcap he already had two victories on the card, and he gave favored Elusive Temper a perfect inside trip in featured race 8. Problem was, pace-setting Eagle Putt was sharp today, and had opened a quick and clear early lead while setting a slow pace. No catching her.

Main track has no apparent bias today. Not a ton of quality on the card. Three-year-old filly maiden race produced another one-two Steve Margolis finish, with favored Maegens Princesses edging 5-1 Wild Tizzy. Slow race, though. Winner went 6fs in 1:12.32 compared to the 1:10.59 put up a race later by Eagle Putt in an N1X allowance.
