Fair Grounds: Divine Music emerges from allowance

Layoff comebackers Changing the Rules (8-5) and Moonbie (3-1) took the action, and I liked recent maiden graduate Prime Cut, but it was Divine Music much the best in race 6, an N1X 3yo sprint allowance. Divine Music stalked Hydro Power's pace and took over in mid-stretch, winning by a comfortable margin in a good 1:10.64. Hydro Power held second, with Prime Cut an even third on the outside and the two favorites nowhere. Divine Music, trained by Malcolm Pierce, flattered Lecomte-stakes bound Herp, who had handled him in a race last month, though Divine Music appeared to take a nice step forward today in his second dirt start. Prime Cut had been entered main-track-only in a route, and seems like a horse who might prefer going long, but his gallop-out today was not anything to write home about.
