Del Mar: Talamo tops standings

After winning twice on Friday, Joe Talamo brought Cactus Jane ($8) from well off the pace to win Saturday's second race and take the lead, at least temporarily, in the jockey standings.

Through the second race, Talamo has 11 wins, one more than Rafael Bejarano and four more than Garrett Gomez and Martin Pedroza.

All of those jockeys have busy days on Saturday. Talamo has excellent chances to win the fourth race on Cascina, the fifth on Bab at the Bowster, the sixth on Cloud Hopper, the San Diego Handicap on Aggie Engineer and the 10th on Lordgivemealift.

All of those horses are 7-2 or less on the morning-line.

Cactus Jane made her turf debut and first start around two turns in Saturday's second race, run over 1 1-16 miles on turf. She rallied wide through the stretch to win by 1 1-4 lengths over Dubai Perfecto. Catcus Jane raced for trianer Mike Puype and was claimed by Robertino Diodoro for $25,000.
