Del Mar: Super High 5 carryover at $36,907

Thursday's $1 Super High Five has a carryover of $36,907 after two 55-1 shots finished second and third in Wednesday's eighth race.

The wager requires bettors to correctly select the first five finishers in order, and does not offer a consolation payoff. Wednesday, the first five finishers of the eighth race were Mr. Gennaro ($10.60), Graydle's Red (55-1), Stakin Stewart (55-1), Swiss G's (22-1) and Courtside (4-1). Wild and True, the 9-5 favorite, could only finish sixth in the field of 12 2-year-old statebred maiden claimers.

Thursday's Super High Five race is a six-furlong maiden claimer for 2-year-olds, which has a field of 11 starters. Jakesam and E Z Led were withdrawn at Wednesday's scratch time. The contenders include Liquid Asset (5-2 on the morning-line), Purgestein (3-1) and Swiss Tart (7-2).

Purgestein, trained by Jeff Bonde, was a troubled eighth in a maiden special weight race here on July 24 and is making his debut in a $40,000 claiming race for maidens. Jockey Christian Santiago Reyes is replaced by Martin Garcia.
