Del Mar: Spill mars last

Jockey Kennel Pellot, who began riding at Del Mar on Wednesday, was unseated from 16-1 Good Mojo in Wednesday's eighth race when his mount appeared to strike the rail nearing the turn of the sprint for maiden claimers over 5 1-2 furlongs.

Pellot, 18, who claims a seven-pound apprentice, was racing in the middle of a field of nine when the incident occured. No other horses were bothered. Pellot remained on the track for a few moments, and was attended to by ambulance personnel. He was transported from the track on a stretcher and taken to first aid for observation, according to track officials. Pellot previously rode in Philadelphia and has won 37 races.

The race was won by Corsa Di Cavalli ($19.20), who gave trainer John Sadler and jockey Joel Rosario their third winners of the day. Corsa Di Cavalli ran 5 1-2 furlongs in 1:04.53, finishing a half-length in front of 2-1 favorite Tale Be Told, who broke slowly and was last on the backstretch. Tale Be Told was claimed for $62,500 by trainer Mike Puype.

Corsa Di Cavalli won the final leg of a pick six that paid $48,720 to two ticketholders.

The winners of Wednesday's pick six races were Soul Custody ($9.80), Square Deal ($7.60), Judicious ($35.20), Izshelegal ($12.20), Chiloquin ($10.80) and Corsa Di Cavalli.
