Del Mar: Pick six carryover reaches $103,938

There is a pick six carryover of $103,938 for Friday's eight-race program at Del Mar, caused almost singly by an upset win by Holding Her Ground ($54) in Thursday's seventh race.

There was one horse covered in Thursday's eighth race, the 7-1 chance Jenny Jenny Emily. She led a maiden claimer over 5 1-2 furlongs to the final furlong but faded to finish third.

Friday's pick six covers the third through eighth races on a program that begins at 4 p.m. The first pick six race is due off at 5 p.m.

Here is a glance at some of the early changes. In the third race, a maiden claimer over 5 1-2 furlongs, Family Plan is withdrawn.

In the sixth race, Lazered is out of an optional claimer over 1 1-16 miles on turf.

It is worth noting in the seventh race, the $125,000 Cougar II Handicap, that trainer Bob Baffert said on Thursday morning that Richard's Kid is likely to start in the Cougar II and not Saturday's San Diego Handicap. Baffert intends to use the Cougar II Handicap as a prep for the $1 million Pacific Classic here on Aug. 28, a race that Richard's Kid won in 2009. For Friday's race, Richard's Kid is the 8-5 favorite on the morning-line.

In the eighth race, One French Kiss and Thunder Bubbles are scratched from a maiden claimer over 1 1-16 miles.
