Del Mar: Late scratch in 2nd

Ballistic Sue, a 8-1 shot, was scratched with two minutes for Thursday's second race after she was reported to not warming up well, according to track stewards.

Ballistic Sue's absence left the field with seven starters.

The race was won by Brown Is Beige ($16.20), who ran five furlongs on turf in 56.43 seconds. The first four finishers were separated by noses. Brown Is Beige (Edwin Maldonado) edged Teddy's Promise, who was just in front of an unlucky Miss Georgie Girl. Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Miss Georgie Girl was in traffic on the turn and had to wait briefly before quickening in the final furlong. My Untamed Heart finished a nose behind Miss Georgie Girl.

Brown Is Beige is trained by Mike Pender, who starts Jeranimo in Sunday's $1 million Pacific Classic.
