Del Mar: Late Cuddle fails as single

Late Cuddle, sent off at 2-5 in an optional claimer over a mile on turf, could only finish fifth in Friday's fifth race, wrecking many pick six tickets. After a comfortable win by 6 1-4 lengths in her American debut on Aug. 8, Late Cuddle was expected to repeat the race, but never quickened in the stretch.

The race was won by Timezone ($18.20) who fought between fillies and mares to win by a neck over Oui Say Oui, who was a nose in front of Dalian.

The $1 pick three covering the first three legs of Friday's massive pick six paid $192.40. The first two pick six races were won by favored Inverness Cape ($6.20) and Adriatic Moon ($10.80).
