Del Mar: Formful day - so far

Favorites and second choice have dominated the first four races on Saturday's 10-race program, a sequence with short fields.

In the first race, Spring Forth ($4.40) won a one-mile maiden race as the favorite in his first start since April.

Favored Runaway Wildcat ($5.40) was a nose better than 4-1 Swiss Tart in the second race, a starter allowance for 2-year-olds. In the third race, a starter allowance for female sprinters, favored Holloween Candy took the lead in early stretch and won a six-furlong race by 1 1-4 lengths over 7-1 Warrensmysterydice. The $1 pick three combining those winners returned $23.80.

The first non-favorite to win was Cigar Man ($5.60), who ran down Diferentkindagreat in the final sixteenth of an optional claimer. Both Cigar Man and Diferentkindagreat were 9-5 but Cigar Man had slightly more money bet on him to win.
