Del Mar: Espinoza, Inda close out rich pick 6


Jockey Victor Espinoza won for the second time on Saturday with a mount that he picked up from an injured Garrett Gomez, and trainer Eduardo Inda won for the first time this year with Magic Beam ($13) in the ninth race. The ninth race was run over seven furlongs for maiden claimers.

Magic Beam won the last leg of a pick six that paid a whopping $272,775.

Magic Beam ran seven furlongs in 1:23.18, finishing a half-length ahead of 18-1 Full's Kris S.

The stewards conducted an inquiry after jockey Chantal Sutherland was unseated when 11-1 Ruling Force stumbled at the start, but the order of finish was not changed. Sutherland was taken to first aid and released.

Gomez took off his mounts aftter Saturday's third race complaining of muscle soreness in his lower back.

In the ninth race, Tiz Golden, the 4-5 favorite, could only finish fourth and was claimed in a two-way shake by Doug O'Neill for $30,000.
