Del Mar: Belvoir is everywhere


Trainer Vann Belvoir claimed two horses for $32,000 in Thursday's fourth race and then scored a mild upset in the fifth race with the maiden claimer Courtney's Prize, his third winner of the meeting.

In the fourth race, a sprint over seven furlongs, Belvoir claimed the second- and third-placed finishers - Domonation, in a two-way shake, and Remus, the 8-5 favorite. Race winner Galleta Monstruo ($8) was claimed in a five-way shake by Mike Mitchell.

In the fifth race, Courtney's Prize ($11.60) led throughout a race for $32,000 claimer over 5 1-2 furlongs and won by a nose over Ansede, finishing in 1:05.75. Courtney's Prize was ridden by Chantal Sutherland, her second winner on Thursday.

Candy and Nuts, the even-money favorite in the fifth race, finished sixth of 11 and was claimed by Dean Pederson.
