Del Mar: Bejarano wins two straight

Jockey Rafael Bejarano won the first two legs of Friday's pick six on non-favorites. The pick six on Friday attracted a pool of $235,987.

In the third race, Melbisha rallied on the inside to catch 11-1 Ruby Lane and win a starter allowance over a mile on turf by a head. Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Melbisha paid $5.80 and was the second choice in the betting.

Bejarano won the fourth race on Dancing Lauren, rallying wide to win a maiden claimer over 6 1-2 furlongs by 1 3-4 lengths over Princess Beau K, the 3-2 favorite. Dancing Lauren ($19) is trained by Kristin Mulhall.

Bejarano began the day tied for second in the jockey's standings with 12 wins, eight fewer than Joel Rosario. Through Friday's fourth race, the Rosario had 21 wins at the meeting, including Friday's first race on Topic Storm, and was seven wins in front of Bejarano.
