The first-time starter Avid scored an impressive win in her debut in Sunday's first race, winning a six-furlong race by 2 1-4 lengths without being urged late by jockey Rafael Bejarano.

Sent off favored, Avid ($4.20) led from the start through fractions of 22.42 and 45.76 seconds, pulling away late to beat Righteous Renee in the field of seven 2-year-old fillies. Avid was timed in 1:10.82.

Trained by Richard Mandella, Avid is by More than Ready and was purchased for $525,000 at the March Ocala Breeders' Sale of 2-year-olds in-training earlier this year.
