Del Mar: $62,500 for two stakes mares

The stakes winners Emmy Darling and Made for Magic were each claimed for $62,500 from Thursday's seventh race.

Emmy Darling, who won the optional claimer over a mile by a length over Washington Bridge, was claimed in a three-way shake by trainer Doug O'Neill. Emmy Darling, a winner of 5 of 20 starts, won the Landaluce Stakes at Hollywood Park in 2008. She was fifth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Filly Turf at Santa Anita that year. This year, Emmy Darling has won three allowance races or optional claimers. Thursday's race was her first appearance for a claiming price.

Made for Magic, who finished fifth as the favorite, was claimed in a 12-way shake by trainer Rafael DeLeon. Made for Magic has won two stakes in the last year, including the Grade 2 Milady Handicap at Hollywood Park in May. She was sixth behind Zenyata in the Grde 1 Clement Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar on Aug. 7. Made for Magic was claimed by previous trainer A.C. Avila for $16,000 at Golden Gate Fields in August 2009.
