Del Mar: 50-cent pick 5 pays $24,568


Two longshot winners and the absence of a winning favorite in the other three legs led to a payoff of $24,568 in Wednesday's 50-cent pick five.

The winners were Hudson Landing ($8), Nicos Memory ($23.60), Soul Custody ($9.80), Square Deal ($7.60), and Judicious ($35.20).

Judicious rallied from off the pace to win a $32,000 claimer for 3-year-old fillies over six furlongs by 1 1-2 lengths For You My Heart, a 17-1 shot. Judicious was the seventh choice in a field of nine. Trained by Steve Knapp for the first time on Wednesday, Judicious has won four consective races, at values of $12,500, $20,000, $25,000 and now $32,000. Knapp claimed Judicious for $25,000 on July 23.

On a day with claims in four of the first five races, the activity continued with three claims in the fifth. Peaceful Town, who finished sixth, was claimed in a two-way shake by Dean Greenman. Peaceful Town was the third horse claimed from John Sadler on Wednesday.

Big Tsimmis, who finished eighth, was claimed in a two-way shake by Jack Carava, while Dearly Concerned, last of nine, was claimed by Jeff Mullins.
