Churchill: Leparoux OK in spill

Julien Leparoux, the leading jockey at the Churchill Downs fall meet and the 2009 Eclipse Award winner, escaped injury in the 2nd race here Wednesday when his mount, Tod the Destroyer, broke down and threw him at about the half-mile pole.

Tod the Destroyer, a 3yo colt trained by Eddie Kenneally, suffered a catastrophic injury to his right foreleg and had to be euthanized. The son of Malibu Moon was entered for a $30,000 claiming tag.

The race winner was Galactic ($3.80), who was claimed from the race for $30,000 by Richard Lueck with James Dodgen as trainer following a 3-way shake.
