Churchill Downs: Snapshot and Lauren Byrd score easily in the eighth and ninth, respectively

Snapshot and Lauren Byrd did their best to liven up a laid-back weekday of racing Wednesday at Churchill.

The former, coming off a ninth-place finish in the Grade 1 Vosburgh, easily outclassed the opposition in a third-level allowance in race eight. He stalked the pace in fourth after somewhat of a slow break, and once cut loose in the stretch by Kent Desormeaux, quickened away from the opposition.

He won by 3 3/4 lengths over late-running A Diehl under very little urging, running six furlongs in a quick 1:09.04 over a fast track. He paid $5.60.

Lauren Byrd also won easily as the favorite in race nine, paying $4.60. Coming off a runner-up finish in the Jessamine Stakes, she had no trouble against first-level allowance fillies. A 2-year-old filly by Arch, she ran a mile on a firm course in 1:37.29.

She also benefited from a ground-saving ride from jockey Corey Lanerie, who notched his third win on the card aboard Lauren Byrd.
