Churchill: Borel in 2 more mishaps

Calvin Borel has returned to the jockeys' room by way of the track ambulance an amazing 3 times in the last 3 days after a Friday mishap at Keeneland and 2 more on the opening-day card Sunday at Churchill. Fortunately, the 3-time Ky Derby-winning jockey has escaped uninjured every time.

In the 3rd race, Borel hopped off after pulling up his mount, Blueveau, at about the three-eighths pole when the 2yo Bluegrass Cat filly suffered injuries severe enough that she had to be euthanized.

In the 4th race, Borel was aboard Time Limit when the colt appeared to clip heels on the backstretch when racing in the back of the field. The colt bobbled badly, and Borel came off, falling harmlessly to the turf.

On Friday, Borel was on a horse for his trainer-brother, Cecil, when the horse clipped heels at the quarter pole, throwing Calvin to the Polytrack. No harm there, either.

In other action of note Sunday at CD, Aide ($4.80, fave) won by farther than you can throw a rock in the 5th race, the first of 2 alw's on this "Stars of Tomorrow" card. Aide represents the Blame team: owner Adele Dilschneider, trainer A.Stall, jockey G.Gomez.

In the 6th, S.Asmussen won his second of the day when City Cool (3-1, S.Bridgmohan) was much the best in one of the 6 MSW races on the card.

There are 20 MTP for the 8th race, the co-featured G3 Iroquois, and Astrology is the 9-5 fave for Asmussen and Gomez. The other feature, the G2 Pocahontas, goes as the 10th.
