Calder: Where did that winner come from?

Anybody watching the second race on the t.v. monitors had to make that comment after the pan shot camera focused right in on leader Purita throughout nearly the entire stretch drive, leaving everybody in the dark regarding who if anyone was making a run at the favorite. As it turned out, REady To Mambo indeed was, coming from dead last and splitting horses near the eighth pole before collaring the staggering leader at the end. Sayaah had also rallied to contention at the top of the stretch but then was lost from the picture, only to hang and drift in the late stages to finish third.

Coming up the first of today's three scheduled turf races that have been switched to the main track. A ton of scratches , six to be precise, including morning line favorite Dinahmite Sal.

It has also started to rain lightly with lightening and thunder in the not to distant background. Main track still fast in my book but could be downgraded if the wet weather continues.
