CALDER: What speed bias?

After watching the racetrack play lightning fast and speed favoring on Friday it was hard to make a case for the stretch running Fundit in today's opener. So naturally Fundit rallied from more than a dozen lengths off the pace to absolutely crush his five rivals to the tune of a $12.80 mutuel.  The final time of 1:12.20 was about par for this type of race although the rest of the field ran nearly 1:14 or slower including the 9-5 Starship Steve who hugged the rail and was woeful and claimed to boot for $10K out of the race.

Three scratches out of the second race which remains on the turf, Finalmont STreet Appeal and Lawyer Jen all awaiting another day.
