Calder: Turf horses shelved again

No turf racing again today and hard to believe the course has any chance to dry out to save tomorrow's grass racing as well.  The m ain track was wet and like quicksand this morning for training but dried out well and was fast by first post. In fact racetrack managements around the country having trouble with their dirt surfaces would do well to take a trip down to south Florida and take a look at this one which drains as well as any I've ever seen.

Speed having a field day thus far, front runners taking each of the first three races beginning with well backed first time starter Code Proof($6.80) in the opener. He was followed by the 6 -5 Sweet In the City and Sweetdreamin Lacey in the off the turf third who won by half a pole while geared down at the wire.

Sansannah holding at 8-5 on the board for the fourth and likely to drop even lower by post time plunging to the cheapest level she's seen in six starts although not likely to see the early lead so perhaps vulnerable at a short price. Canaima the choice here if able to avoid the early trouble that compromised her chances in her only previous start.   Bill White with a first timer in here named Lucky Afternoon but she's shown little to me in the morning and at 9-1 is truly dead on the board coming out of this barn.
