CALDER: Surprising speed

It wasn't surprising to see Don Tito win the eighth race but it was a bit of a shock to see him on the lead in a :21 and change opening quarter mile after rallying from near the rear of the pace in his only previous start which came on the grass. This one was over as soon as he struck the front considering the speed bias that has held up the entire afternoon.  It was a sure bet horses like Tackleberry and Candyman E weren't going to catch at the end. Willing to give unlikely first time starter Czech Master another chance. Broke slow, rushed up into that fast opening quarter, faded to last but obviously has enough gas to be dangerous against this same kind with a little better trip.
