Calder: Still no turf

Despite three days of clear, dry weather there is no turf racing again today at Calder. I guess taking 6 inches of rain earlier in the week can have that effect. The main track is fast but a bit on the cuppy side and thus far appears to be favoring horses racing on or near the lead and on or near the rail.

The switch to dirt decimated the field for the seventh race with six of the original 14 entrants scratched.  The eighth race was always carded for the main track but has drawn four scratches anyway which leaves a field of only four to contest the five furlong starter allowance for 2-year-old fillies
