CALDER: That must have been some story

Whoever laid the story on whoever bet Chicken Dinner down to 3-1 in the nightcap is one heck of a salesman as the roan filly ran to her horrendous past performances and finished last even against the woeful field left after scratches in a race switched from the turf to the main track. Very Very Clever ultimately staggered home the winner over a tiring pace setter Vibrant Light with even money Nikki's Wanted Too failing to rally along the rail and now on my personal never bet back list.

AS for the main event, the Emergency Nurse, the race proved a stroll in the park for the 1-5 Dash Dot Dash who toyed with her four rivals before drawing off to an easy 6.25 length victory. Simply the case of a good, improved filly taking on a bunch of overmatched horses. Will be interesting to see how this one fares when faced with legitimate competition later this summer.
