Calder: Justice served for Collazo

Email

After having his horse disqualified from first and placed third in a very borderline call in the fourth race, the racing Gods smiled down on trainer Henry Collazo in the eighth. First with all the rain that resulted in the race being taken off the grass and moved to a sloppy track that his Onafrozenrope obviously relished. And second after Hope Deferred lost jockey Henry Nunez leaving the gate then ran loose and interfered with three of his rivals including the even money favorite Havanadaydream who ran a monster race to finish third after being forced very wide on the clubhouse turn. In fact Cloudy, who lost even more ground due to the actions of Hope Deferred, did Havanadaydream one better to come along and finish second despite the huge mess on the club turn.

Following an inquiry, it was ruled Hope Defered did not receive a fair start and he was ordered to be treated as a non-starter and late scratch.

A reminder the tenth race has also been switched to the main course.
