Calder: I'm convinced

that Trip for A J is for real after she won her third straight and did so without the lead when cruising to an easy win in the grass Ms Brookski. After getting away with soft pace scenarios in her previous two tallies, this time Trip for A J was able to rate off the ridiculously fast pace set by Aroma de Mujer, rolled by the leader like she wasn't even there near the quarter pole and was not threatened thereafter with Musical Romance easily second best. That's four in a row, two on turf and two on dirt, for Trip for A J who's full sis Annabil won eight stakes but was clearly better on dirt than grass.

Trainer Milt Wolfson saddled Trip for A J but his attempt to win two straight was foiled by a poor ride from Manny Cruz on Bernie the Maestro who took back off the lead, got shuffled in traffic on the rail and never recovered. The rail was ultimately won by Wingedlie who took advantage of the hot pace to outfinish Dinner In Odem. The latter circled four wide and looked home with his bid in late stretch only to hang on the money and just miss.
