CALDER: Hot firster scratched at gate

Email

Canadian Magic took all the money for her debut, holding at 6-5 as the field loaded for the ninth race but never got to show her stuff as she flipped and wound up on the ground under the starting gate and was ultimately scratched.  This filly has worked extremely well but it remains to be seen how the experience will effect her when she returns next time.  Boogie Woogie became the beneficiary of Canadian Magic's ill fortune, staggering home over a weak bunch despite weaving in and out through midstretch.

Bim Bam has opened at 3-5 for the Lord Juban.  Owns a decided class edge over the field but have a feeling he could be vulnerable at this time.
