CALDER: High winds

The wind has picked up appreciably out of the southeast which makes it more of a crosswind and did affect the opening quarter mile fraction(:25 and change) of the seventh race won easily by the well backed, 8-5 passionforracing.  Rain all around us at the moment but still dry here. Speed has had a field day again this afternoon after struggling on Saturday.

Will be interesting to see if either of both the firsters, Redfoxey Dorothy and Canadian Magic, get bet in the eighth which is a maiden special weight for older fillies and mares. Redfoxey D. was well backed before being scratched at the gate a couple of weeks earlier while Canadian Magic was training very fast earlier this spring but not as well since returning from a five week hiatus and reported mishap when also scratched at the gate earlier in the meet.
