Calder: Dead firster on board wins ninth race

First time starters trained by David Fawkes usually get bet and get bet hard so it was surprising to see My Truly Fair holding at double digits through most of the bettting prior to the tenth race. The 2-year-old filly eventually dropped to 7-1, broke to the lead and road the bias to an easy victory in the $25,000 maiden seller. Flor De Amelia, who was bet hard to 2-1 on the drop from maiden special weight company, eased back from the early leaders then did well to get up for second behind the upset winner.

Presque Isle Downs invader Lotta Lovin has been pounded to 6-5 for her local and conventional dirt debut but probably not a surprise with the move to trainer Marty Wolfson's barn. Frolic's Revenge the second choice at 2-1 and  could spring the mild upset if using her speed to outsprint the favorite to the lead.
