Calder: Catching Up

It's been a hectic day and finally getting a chance to catch up.  The main track has favored speed and stalkers all afternoon while the turf is firm again and seems to flatter a similar style.

Trainer Fred Warren reached a milestone when winning his 1,000th career race with longshot Flyin Trey in the seven on the grass.  Fast Jak just turned in a very game performance to win the featured ninth, putting away a couple of bids from 4-5 Bluegrass Bull to register a well deserved victory for jockey Edgar PZerez and trainer Antonio Sano. Returned what I thought was a generous $11.00.  Kudos for jockey Sebastian Madrid who wasted little time getting back to the winner's circle with 6-5 Toy in the sixth race in just his second ride since rerturning from a horrific spill here one month earlier.  Looks fit and ready to climb back aboard the undefeated Gourmet Dinner next Saturday in the In Reality Stakes.
