Calder: Bridge jumper burnt again

It's not quite like not being able to pick the winner of a one horse race but the bridge jumper or jumpers who went in on Limbo Dancer to show in the eighth race came close as their choice could not finish at least third in a four horse field. Limbo Dancer ended up engaging in a suicidal speed duel with Lila Louann and took the worst of the battle, ultimately fading to fourth and last. As a result, the winner Flying Trip returned $6.80 to win and $12.80 to show while the place and show horses returned $17.40 and $11.80 in the third spot.  The win was the third in as many starts for Flying Trip who broke last but took advantage of the speed duel for trainer Gilberto Zerpa and apprentice Angel Moreno.

Meanwhilefirst time starter Lake Nona has opened as the 3-5 favorite in a very contentious field of 2-year-old maiden special weight horses, a field that includes his stablemate Z Breeze who actually was best of thepair when the two worked from the gate on Aug. 31. Anotehr first timer, Bud White, has also been sizzling in the a.m. and figures to take money although Z Breeze and the morning line choice Megalith are both coming off nice debut runs and figure tough with a race under their belts.
