Calder: Betting after the break?

Email

That would appear to have been the case in today's sixth race after B L's Noise dropped from 9-2 leaving the gate to 5-2 after quickly opening a three length lead out of the chute in the seven furlong starter allowance race.  Of course the "speed boys", if that was the case, picked a bad day to make that type of wager on the early leader since as already reported in these spaces the rail is dead and front runners have been stopping all day. Which is exactly what happened to B L's Noise who proved an easy target for the stalking Put IT Back Twenty, the latter easily overtaking the tiring leader near the eighth pole before rolling to an 11-1 upset win under leading rider Luis Saez.  In fact B L's Noise could not even hold the place, staggering home behind the late running Mize the Big Cat to finished third.

Vee's Accolade the even money favorite to finally win his maiden in the off the turf seventh race at a mile. The stakes tested colt could likely wheel right back in the Foolish Pleasure next weekend with a big performance today.
