Belmont: Sloppy & off turf

Email

The main track is sloppy and all scheduled turf races have been taken off the turf, as the first full week of racing gets under way at the spring-summer meet.

The card is highlighted by the Cupid's Way (6th), a $60,000 overnight stakes at seven furlongs for New York-bred fillies that pits the 7-for-9 Lots of Stones against 5-for-7 Cuff Me.

General Maximus, a two-time stakes winner at Belmont last year including the Hudson Stakes, makes his second start of the year off some bullet works in race 2 against Be Bullish and Giant Ryan, who were in peak form at Aqueduct.
