Belmont Park: Scotchmallow up in final jump; pick six pays $11,551

Those alive to favored Miss Hanky Panky in the pick-six were, at the sixteenth pole, already thinking how to spend the $5,201 they were going to collect. But their dreams went up in smoke in the final 10 yards as the trio of Scotchmallow, King Prada and Unforgettable P J came flying at the tiring filly.

At the wire it was Scotchmallow, the 7-1 shot under Jose Lezcano, who got his nose on the wire first, a nostril ahead of King Prada, under Abel Lezcano, Jose's cousin, who appeared to raise his right hand in triumph while galloping out Unforgettable P J, a 61-1 shot was third and Miss Hanky Panky was, unbelievably, fourth.

Thus, the pick-six returned $11,551 for those tickets with Scotchmallow. Those who were alive with Miss Hanky Panky get to collect a measley $43.60 for five of six. Tough, tough beat.
