Belmont Park: Sale of Neon Light being disputed

Neon Light, the tepid morning-line favorite for Monday's $100,000 Pebbles Stakes, was scratched out of the race by the stewards because the previous owner, Pavel Kusmin, is disputing the sale of the horse to Sheila Rosenbloom. The two sides could wind up in court.

According to Kiaran McLaughlin, who is the listed trainer for Neon Light, Kusmin is contesting the sale on the basis that the agent who sold the 3-year-old German-bred filly to Rosenbloom was not authorized to do so. Remarkably, the filly has been in McLaughlin's care for more than a month.

``She's here, ready to run,'' McLaughlin said.

House of Grace was also scratched from the Pebbles leaving a field of eight.
