Belmont Park: No Explaining out of Garden City

The main track is fast and the turf courses are labeled yielding to start Saturday's program at Belmont Park. The sixth, a maiden event for New York-bred 2-year-olds scheduled for the Widener Turf, is moved to the main track. It remains at a mile on the dirt.

The most notable scratch on the 10-race program is No Explaining from the Grade 1 Garden City Breeders' Cup. Trainer Roger Attfield explained that No Explaining was coughing and had ``nasal discharge'' Saturday morning and couldn't run. She had shipped to Belmont on Wednesday.  John Velazquez, who was scheduled to ride No Explaining, picked up the mount on Persuading who was scheduled to be ridden by Alex Solis. Solis missed his fourth consecutive day of riding here to be in Northern California where his cousin, Michael Maritinez, remains hospitalized with serious injuries following a spill at Golden Gate last Sunday.

Unbridled's Heart was naturally scratched from Saturday's opener as he ran second in an off-the-turf race on Thursday.
