Belmont Park: Distorted Legacy upsets the Sky Beauty

Distorted Legacy, under Rajiv Maragh, rallied from well off the pace to win Friday's $60,000 Sky Beauty Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 1-16 miles.

Maragh gave Distorted Legacy a terrific ground-saving trip, was going to to go the outside of pace-setting Ask the Moon, but then switched back to the rail when Ask the Moon drifted out then outlasted Satans Quick Chick and Ask the Moon to the wire.

Distorted Legacy, a daughter of Distorted Humor, has now won two in a row for owner Bruce Lunsford and trainer Angel Penna Jr. Sent off 7-1, Distorted Legacy returned $16.80.

R Betty Graybull, the 2-1 second choice, finished fourth, and stumbled past the wire, unseating jockey Eddie Castro, who went to First-Aid to be evaluated. R Betty Graybull did not seem to be injured.

Heading into the nightcap, four of the nine horses are covered in the pick-six. It is paying $120,744 with the 1 (Cayo Hueso) and 9 (Sumfun) and $40,248 with the 5 (Mor Chances) and 7 (Golden Weekend).
