Belmont Park: Carlos Marquez Jr. escapes injury

Jockey Carlos Marquez Jr. remarkably walked off the Widener Turf Course under his own power after being unseated in Wednesday's seventh race when his mount Fore Pals clipped heels with Macho Joe early on down the backside in the one-mile race. Marquez appeared to go down hard, but was fortunate that the one horse trailing him, did not hit him.

NYRA officials said that Marquez bruised his thigh.

Fore Pals, trained by Dennis Manning, was aprehended by the outrider after the finish line and also appeared to be uninjured.

The race was run by Romans Reward, ridden by Ramon Dominguez, his second of the day.
