Belmont: Nicole H by a pole

Nicole H (1st, $3.00) spent her first nine races running on four different types of synthetic tracks in California - Pro-Ride, Cushion Track, Polytrack and Tapeta - and won one them while averaging a Beyer Figure of 73. The 3-year-old filly by Mr. Greeley shipped to Monmouth with a trainer change to Mike Hushion, and ran a clear second in the slop on Aug. 22, earning a figure of 99.

That figure looks absolutely legit after Nicole H won her first-level allowance condition by a pole under a motionless Ramon Dominguez, as if a can't-miss stakes prospect.

You can't help wondering how many other really good horses in California are just crying to get on dirt.
