Belmont: Fast & good

Email

The main track is fast and the turf courses are labeled good for Saturday's 10-race card, where the Beaugay and Fort Marcy, a pair of Grade 3, $100,000 turf stakes, share top billing.

Maram, the 8-5 morning-line favorite for the Beaugay, has been scratched following yesterday's announcement of her retirement. Her absence leaves the field without a graded stakes winner.

Sal the Barber, who won the Grade 3 Calder Derby as a 3-year-old in 2009, is the only graded stakes winner in the Fort Marcy.

  There is a $28,629 pick-6 carryover, beginning with race 5 at 3:08 p.m. Eastern.
