Belmont: Fast & firm

The main track is fast and the turf courses are firm for the Friday the 13th card, the highlight of which is the $60,000 Glia overnight stakes (8th) at six furlongs on the inner turf.

Of the four Linda Rice-trained runners entered in the Glia, Precision Farming and Ahvee's Destiny have been scratched, leaving the uncoupled duo of Lady Rizzi and Karakorum Elektra to run. The latter has won seven times on the grass at Belmont including victories against males in 2009 and 2010.

The likely pacesetter is Out Post, who makes her first start since a neck loss to the Rice-trained Canadian Ballet at Penn National last July. Out Post won her seasonal debut at Belmont last year for Richard Santulli and Alan Goldberg, and those connections have already sent out four layoff winners through the early stages of this meet.
