Belmont: Apprentice Ortiz stable; moving arms and legs

The first report regarding apprentice Irad Ortiz Jr. is that he was stable conscious and was moving his arms and legs, according to the New York Racing Association's First-Aid department.

 Ortiz who was removed on a stretecher by NYRA medical personnel was taken to North Shore University Hospital by ambulance for evaluation of a possible head injury.

 Ortiz was aboard Freud's Debut, who was bumped by Hurricane Hill and fellow apprentice Ryan Curatolo in the early stages of Belmont's ninth race.
