Arlington: Two-thirds of Thursday

Belatedly, I will report the Thursday conditions:
Cloudy, 64 degrees, 60 percent humidity
Wind east (tail-wind stretch) 6-12 mph
Turf firm, rail in lane 1

This Polytrack is playing faster than par for the summer. $5K Poly-sprinters went 22.15, 44.83 on the way to a final time of 1:17.54 for 6.5 furlongs in race 3. No surprise that stretch-running Daareb got up in time for trainer Larry Rivelli. Serengeti Tour might have been best. Turning back from turf routes, what was the hurry to rush up and engage for the lead at the quarter-pole? Held second despite moving into the hot pace.

Only one grass race so far on the day, that race 2, one of Arlington's new favorite conditions, $15K N2L claiming going short on the lawn. Ugh. I also hate the other new favorite condition, $25K maidens on the turf, especially sprints. Boom De Ya De, a $25K MCL turf-sprint winner last out at Canterbury, pressed, took over, and held on over a turf course that should be on the good side of firm right now.
