Arlington: Turf in decent shape, Poly-playing faster, Peitz again

EmailTurf rated good, with rail moved to lane 1 today. Good, perhaps, but far from slow: Tawaared just won race 3 over a mile on turf, leading all the way through a snappy half-mile split of 47.95 seconds, final time 1:37.74. That wouldn't be possible on a course with much give to it. Tawaared another Dan Peitz-trained AP grass winner, his fourth of the meet, I think.

Polytrack getting faster day by day this week - though it had only one direction to go after super-slow Thursday. $10K N2L claimers managed nine furlongs in 1:52.70 in race 1, and $5K platers in race 2 went a mile in 1:39.46.

Heavy rain still in the forecast, and conditions could change significantly through the afternoon. As of now, its cloudy, 73 degrees, southwest wind (cross/tail) about 10 mph.
